Large-bed print strategy: Kobra Max, OrangeStorm Giga and K2 Plus

Check the entire footprint before committing to a large print. Start with bed consistency, first layers and shrinkage.

01

Test the footprint, not just the center

A tiny calibration cube cannot show whether a large footprint will adhere evenly. Print small patches near the planned corners and center. Keep the same plate preparation, material and starting routine you will use for the final job.

02

Account for the machine’s layout

A moving-bed Kobra Max, a segmented-bed OrangeStorm Giga and an enclosed K2 Plus have different constraints. Check the active bed zones and actual build area in the manufacturer profile. Verify clearance for the full moving bed, cables and spool path when considering an enclosure.

03

Scale up in stages

After the footprint succeeds, try a shallow version or representative corner of the real model. Keep a record of lifting by location and height. For shrinking materials, combine appropriate chamber conditions with sensible geometry; more infill alone is not a reliable cure for warping.
